Give Your Teachers a Gold Star

gold-star-certificate-proofIt’s a Gift That Gives Back.

Would you like to honor a special District teacher, coach or staff person? How about a Gold Star Award?

Money from Gold Star Awards goes to the Education Foundation’s Mini Grants Program. Mini Grants are given out to District teachers and staff to help pay for exceptional school and classroom projects that are not covered by the school budget.

For $25, the Education Foundation will send a Gold Star Award Certificate from your family or child to the teacher of your choice. A letter of recognition will also go to the principal at the teacher’s school. Gold Star awardees are announced on the Foundation’s website and in the back-to-school edition of the Link-22.

To give a Gold Star Award using our secure site provided by Network for Good, click here.

Or mail your gift to: MSAD #22 Education Foundation, 24 Main Rd. N., PO Box 115, Hampden, ME 04444. Make your check payable to the MSAD #22 Education Foundation, and note the name of the person(s) to be honored, their school(s), and your child’s and family’s name.

Sneak Peek: Find the Bronco!

High-quality education is a treasure of our District. In that spirit, our Education Foundation is inviting parents and children to participate in the first-ever Find the Bronco Treasure Hunt during summer vacation.

Starting in mid-June, a downloadable treasure hunt passport and weekly clues will be posted on the Foundation’s website and Facebook page. Using the clues, treasure-seekers can search for “lockboxes” in various spots in our district. The online clues will contain historical, cultural or educational tidbits that will guide the children to the various lockboxes.

Each lockbox will have a stamp to mark passports. All participants who submit stamped passports will receive a treasure-hunt gift, and the first 10 children to submit passports to the Education Foundation will win a Hampden Bronco-themed prize.

Look for more details soon on the community access TV channel, the Foundation’s website and in student folders.

What's Your Hampden Academy Memory?

pease-photoDid you attend Hampden Academy?

If so, photographer Danielle DeWald Pease would like to hear your stories.

Shortly after the new Hampden Academy opened in September 2012, Danielle started documenting the empty halls and classrooms of the old Hampden Academy.  The photographs have a beautiful, quiet quality that speaks to memory and the passing of time.

In addition to creating gallery prints for a show in May, Danielle is using the photographs to produce a photography book titled High School, which will be released in the fall.  She is looking for stories, poems, or memorabilia that she can scan or photograph to complement the photographs.

For more details on the project, check Danielle’s blog at: oldhampdenhighschool.blogspot.com . Just click on the tab titled “participation” at the top of the page.
